Carter Cruise was born on April 24, 1991, in Atlanta, Georgia. She grew up in Cary, North Carolina. Carter has Cherokee and of Welsh descent. She studied at home as a child and attended Cary High School.

She did not originally intend to go to university. After spending half a year there to plan for her future, she came up with the concept of the “Carter Cruise” brand. This includes writing, acting, music, and fashion.
Cruise stated, “How can I do these things in a lifetime? Porn was the first step. It gave me the capital and connections to not only build my brand but to lay the groundwork for other creative things as well.”
In an interview, she stated that both parents know about her porn career and supporter her.
